Now that primary care is "near death" policy makers are giving us a lot of positive press… and promises. But the question remains… can the United States redesign its care in a way that truly provides high quality primary care for all?
Based on exchanges of opinions among front line Primary Care Physicians, an idea is being endorsed for presentation to policymakers in the form of a petition. We primary care physicians are being asked to support, distribute and sign a petition for a type of care that promises:
- vitality of primary care by establishing a unique primary care funding stream
- exactly the care our patients want and need
Based on constructive criticism (See the comments from 1/15 to 2/14/2009) we have modified the proposal and now request primary care physicians and nurse practitioners nationwide to add their voices. Why should we do this? Because we cannot count on the usual policy makers and special interests to represent our patients' and our own interests better than we.
WE HOPE THAT YOU WILL READ AND SIGN THE PETITION THAT WE THINK REPRESENTS WELL THE INTERESTS OF PHYSICIANS, NURSE PRACTITIONERS, AND PATIENTS AT THE FRONT LINES OF CARE.
AFTER YOU HAVE SIGNED, PLEASE ASK 5 ADDITIONAL COLLEGUES TO DO THE SAME.
THE NEXT DEADLINE WILL BE 3/1/09 TIMING IS CRITICAL
